Saw a tweet about Martha Nussbaum yesterday and decided to have a look at some of her ideas.

One theme is shame and disgust, and how the latter has been used to create laws that thwart the pursuits (happiness, pleasure, meaning of life) of consenting adults.

It's an interesting dynamic as societal disgust (even without laws) can impact what people might otherwise pursue as to what makes them happy, and instead, self thwart their own happiness because of feelings of shame.

Got me thinking, and one practical application is to consider what impact shame may have/have had on decisions we make.

Are you letting other people's judgments (their disgust) curb your enthusiasm for what makes you happy, feel pleasure and find meaning in life?
