gigantomastia ...when your boobs dont know when to quit

Gigantomastia...a little understood condition in the medical field. Some women have the unusual condition where their breasts and only their breasts grow nonstop to massive proportions.

What causes this? Is it a possible gene defect? No 'off switch" in the expression of genes that cause the mammary tissue to grow? Is it evironment? Dietary? Doctors and scientists cant seem to figure it out.

Rachel Aldana is one such woman. A cup size growth per year. She is size 30L.
Do a websearch and see how large they are.

Some women get reduction out of necessity.

Not to be confused with adult film stars that implanted polypropylene string implants, which also continue to grow non stop, due to serum the body produces to encapsulate the implants.they need draining every so often ( see Chelsea Charms & wiki polypropylene string implants)

Too much of a good thing is.....too much.

Is it growth hormone? No one seems to know.

Anyone have an answer or know something about this?

The cause is unknown. It doesn't seem to be genetic. Women with the condition have normal hormones but their breasts are hypersensitive to those hormones. I think normally when a hormone hits a receptor there's a "done" switch which desensitizes to the hormone, and those exposed to a lot of hormones normally get desensitized even more. I'm betting they don't have that, so the same hormone keeps hitting the same receptor again and again.

Steroidal saponins, found in fenugreek for example, have a similar effect of unregulating receptors rather than having a direct hormonal effect. However there are also LH & FSH receptors which when unregulated increase hormone production too, so steroidal saponins can increase some hormones too. There is a rat study where a pregnant rat given a megadose of shatavari extract (also high in saponins) developed gigantomastia. Other rat studies without existing hormones such as pregnancy hormones did not show mammary growth from shatavari. Unlike humans non-pregnant rats don't normally have mammaries so there's nothing to unregulate.

I looked around and could not find any similar study from megadoses of estrogen. In fact I found this study saying that excessive estrogen does *not* lead to breast hypertrophy aka gigantomastia (nor does having an excessive number of estrogen receptors): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2359804 .

I am wondering if a topical application of liquid shatavai extract would increase size at site of application. I saw liquid extract on Amazon. Might be worth the experimentation.

Oh yeah I should add that the rat megadose equals around 100-150 grams in humans, possibly more, with no toxicity. Human studies, recommendations and successful NBE programs are typically around 6 to 25 grams (with the amazing NBE stories toward the high end). So it may be safest to stay within that range. With a 30-50% saponin extract this can be reduced to half a gram to 2.5 grams, and it's easier to stomach. It's not the same as other herbs where their range is often 0.5 to 2 grams. For all of these programs with this little (and no other saponin herbs or other herbs) I read of little or no effect every single time. Hypoglycemics shouldn't use saponin herbs at all as even 3 grams can cause them trouble.

I have done some experimentation with liquid forskolin topically as well as sublingually. I had noticed swelling it what feels like lactiferous ducts. I have been taking it for its supposed upregulation of aromatization.

What are your thoughts joe? You are a very knowledgeable person. I am eager to hear what you have to say

Sorry, hadn't heard about forskolin before. A quick search seems to say it increases cAMP which is a signalling molecule for all types of growth and other cellular activity, not only for aromatization. Actually it seems to be more popular among bodybuilders who claim it burns fat and increased the availability of their existing testosterone. There's no mention of aromatase and bodybuilders hate it, but who knows it might be 1 small thing in a large pile. It seems more like it boosts a myriad of things rather than any one particular thing. So if it helps I can't say why; could be a lot of things.

Searching for forskolin for breast enlargement didn't turn up anything; instead I got a bunch of fat burning links.

This is what led me to believe it did. Unless of course I read it all wrong :p

I defer to your expertise in the medical jargon. From what I gathered, the importance of progestin and/ or progestin and oestrogen is the key factor of unregulated aromatization.

Can you confirm or clarify for me? Hopefully I did not misinterpret it
