Nicotine Patch?

#1

I received a script for nicotine patches from my doc as a quitting smoking aid. I’ve seen several posts referring to the use of nicotine patches but nothing about their impact on NBE, specifically PM. If anyone has info, positive, negative, or indifferent, I’d appreciate it.

Just wondering about the constant effect of the dose of nicotine in my system while taking PM. Being a blood vessel constrictor, I’m wondering how much it will interfere with PM conversion and the estradiol getting to the right places to spur growth.

Should I continue with NBE while on the Patch, or suspend NBE until I’m nicotine free?

Any tips from those with experience with this greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Jenn

Smoking, estradiol metabolism and hormone replacement therapy

it has been proven that, depending on the type, duration and intensity of nicotine consumption, smoking can reduce or completely cancel the efficacy of orally administered estrogens.

But there's this...

who continue to smoke despite all warnings should therefore only be treated via the transdermal route

Nicotine Blocks Brain Estrogen Synthase (Aromatase)

Cigarette smoking and nicotine have complex effects on human physiology and behavior, including some effects similar to those elicited by inhibition of aromatase, the last enzyme in estrogen biosynthesis

Thanks VOD! Guess I’ll try patch along with NBE, and see. I’ve cut back significantly, so I’m hoping 2-3 weeks will suffice and then I will rely on gum if/when necessary.

Cheers!

Good luck with kicking it altogether. Eventually, you won't miss it at all.

A while back, I was at a party and ran into a former coworker that I had my very last cigarette (nine years prior) with. Told her that when we last met, that was the very last cigarette I ever had. She said she quit shortly thereafter as well!
