Epilator red spots under skin for months

#1

I tried an epilator several months ago.  I followed the directions and got some interesting results after the pain went away.  However, for the last several (at least 4 months) months I still have small red spots in locations where the hair was pulled out of my skin.  Is this common?  I have tried different creams to try to make the red spots go away with no luck: antibiotic creams, Benadryl gel, various moisturizers and some Rx skin creams.  The spots are like small skin infections and are about 1-2 mm in size. Some of the spots are slightly raised about the skin.  Any suggestions about how to get rid of the spots?
Thanks

Try scrubbing with body wash and a luffa. I used an epilator for about a year and started started to get a lot of ingrown hairs, so I stopped but my hair is more sparce and grows back slower. The red bumps may be ingrown hairs, not sure though.

Hi there,
I tend to agree with Tomi, probably the red bumps are ingrown hairs. Best way to treat these is with a loofah to open the hair follicles up again. Maybe with a cream you will plug the follicle and cause further infection.
Try also dusting your skin with talc before using your epilator, that helped me and I got less ingrown hairs. I did go through a phase of ingrown hairs when I started epilating 20 years ago but by persevering you get through this phase and your skin gets smoother with less regrowth.
Another way is to try a home IPL (intense pulse light)  for hair removal, that's the way I would go if I was starting now.

There is a correct scheme for using an electric epilator: first you need to use a body scrub (salt, coffee, etc.), then the hair removal itself, then a remedy that prevents hair growth. I use the product in a spray bottle, which is very convenient, and the redness goes away faster, and the amount of ingrown hairs decreases noticeably. If inflammation suddenly occurs, a lotion based on salicylic acid and willow bark works well. But I want to try IPL, it's less painful and more effective.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I can't use an IPL because I have light colored hair.  I am trying some anti-inflammatory creams and see what happens.
