I've recently been using a cream containing azelaic acid on my face as I read that it is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. As you get older you tend to get fuzzier on the face - and this really seems to be working! It's sold as an anti-acne and rosacea treatment under the names Azaclear, Skinoren, AzClear, Finacea and others. It's not expensive.
Hope this helps someone.

Thank you for sharing, Mummabear,
Azelaic acid is also in rye, barley grass, and whole grain cereals. Especially the barley grass is used as an anti-androgen on the forum.

Hi Mummabear,
Which one exactly do you use.
Hey Isabelle,
I wonder if I use the barley powder on the face or make a strong tea and use that on the face if it would do the same..unless there are more ingredients in what Mummabear is using for good aborption...

Hi Susan,
I don't know. It's easy to try out, though

Hey Isabelle,
I do have spearmint essl oil.. I have been using that on my face..forgot the first time to mix it with something,...burning woooo...cold cold water then had to slightly wash my face..I was thinking mixing spearmint, barley grass powder with almond oil as a facial thingy..I have been doing oil cleansing instead of using soap and it works great..I also been using rosewater with alum too..that is working too..I should post a before and after pic..
Sorry Mummabear for hijacking your post

Hi Beachbumbythesea - I use the Azclear as that is the one available in Australia. I'd say this would have a lot more of the active ingredient in it than barley powder.
