Hi I found this information regarding serious side effects

Meningioma There is a rare but serious, cumulative dose-dependent risk of developing meningioma (a type of non-cancerous brain tumor), especially with prolonged use of doses 25 mg/day and above.

Liver Damage Direct liver toxicity, including jaundice, hepatitis, and liver failure, has been reported in rare cases, particularly at doses of 100 mg and above.

Blood Clots The medication can increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (blood clots).

Adrenal Suppression High doses can lead to adrenal insufficiency if stopped abruptly.
Patients should be monitored regularly with blood tests for liver function and hormone levels. Treatment with all cyproterone-containing products is contraindicated in individuals with a history of meningioma.

So basically you need to be monitored very closely if you going to go on it. It does promote female development very well of course but like anything caution is best with a decent endocrinologist.

Good luck on your transition Andrea I'm sure it will be worth the journeySmile

I have been on Cypro for a long time before changing to Bica.

It has a long list of possible side effects which sound scary but you're unlikely to get any of them, the doses needed for androgen suppression are tiny compared to its use as a prostate cancer medication. You can do 25mg per day for quite long time very likely without problems, but I don't see the reason why you should? 12,5mg is easily enough, you can even take it once every two or even tree days and still get your T kept in bay.

Cypro on 12,5mg or higher raises prolactin and that effect is cumulative, if you're like me and get prolactin rise super easy this could become a problem. High prolactin inhibits estrogens and progesterone and obviously you might induce lactation. These could potentially slow down or stall breast development.

Otherwise go ahead with cypro, its a fantastic blocker and works well on tiny doses. It might also deplete B12 vitamin, so keep that supplemented while you're on it.
