I'm guessing the ones I bought were just very cheaply made. More like rubber, than rubber silicone. After what happened to it, it reminds me of a news story I once read about 15 years ago where some woman went on an intimate dinner date with her hubby to a fancy restaurant and she decided to wear a shiny red rubber mini dress....and NO underwear!! Woo Woo!!!!
During their meal, she stood up to adjust the upper portion of her dress and, after she grabbed hold of it to hike it up, her thumbnail poked into the rubber and the dress EXPLODED into a bunch of little pieces leaving her completely naked!! Lol.
