I did pick up and use one of those Silk'n SensEpil light epilators a few years ago, as I have fairly fine hair anyway it did not work for me. I have been using it on some parts of my face, but that seems like it's a waste of my time too. It seems to use these things with any success you need to have dark hair.
Also note that many people have no luck with IPL devices, Tria is a 810nm laser. The hair on my head is dirty blond, but generally the coarse body hair and beard is dark, so the laser still works.
I am going to get it to do what it can do, and then try a round with the carbon dye for the white whiskers.
