Given L-Tyrosine is a precursor to norepinephrine, the brain's version of adrenaline and may have a stimulant effect and might raise blood pressure. I would take it on an empty stomach either first thing in the morning at least 30 minutes before consuming any protein or at bed time. I have taken as much as 1000 mg at one time. It doesn't seem to do much for me. I've never really looked into its role in thyroid health, but I keep seeing advice to take it for thyroid support. I take 325 mg of prescription natural thyroid, 500-1000 mg of L-Tyrosine, and a good iodine supplement, and my temperature is seldom above 97.5F.
