Well i can tell you that electrolosys really works, but as pointed out above, hair grows in cycles so some follicles will be resting at any point in time and those will get missed until they start growing again. So it's somwhat of an iterative process. Also, the follicles don't necessarily die the first time, although many do.
I am talking about real electrolosys (with electricity), not the radio stuff they call "electrolosys".
My experience was that it took maybe 6 months of going for treatment every few weeks. It takes quite a while even for a good practitioner, so you may it may take 3 or 4 sessions just to do your face - plus some repetition later to catch the previously dormant follicles.
I did not find it overly expensive and did it while i was not working.
You definitely need to plan on your skin being all red and swollen for a few hours afterwards. Don't plan on being in public right affer treatment.
In my experience it's not overly painful, but certain parts like upper lip are very sensitive. I found that i could only take so much in a session.
Being born blonde (though brunette at the time of electrolosys), i found that it was not necessary to be meticulous about geting every last hair completely killed. I still have a few very blond, short, light hairs that keep growing and i simply making plucking them part of my routine every few days.
