You just starting out and I suggest you do a lot of reading of the great info on this site.  The question you ask is a common one, but, like most new people, they have not read the info here.  It took me about 3 months of reading stuff (not every day) a few hours a week before I felt comfortable with how to approach NBE.  I am not trying to discourage you, just IMO, you need to do your homework.  Once you get a good feel for what this NBE is all about, you can ask specific questions.  There is great introductory info from Lotus that is base "science" about the different herbs.  He has also summarized the process very clearly.  Not everyone responds to the different herbs and herb combinations and that is why you will find different NBE programs.
