Not sure what you mean regarding being less feminine in Newport, I may be misunderstanding the translation.
Be the new you in the UK, over here it does not matter who you are and how you dress, just be you and dress as you feel comfortable, us British are very understanding and as long as you just do your job no issues.
By the way, you are going to the UK to a place called Newport and is in Wales, goodness dont call them English they are Welsh haha

UK is made up of 4 devolved nations England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each with there own governance but headed by parliament in London, another history lesson for later.
