I'm inclined to believe kellyO here. the camps don't start from complete institutional support to immediate hellfire purging of the infidels. There are midpoints, specifically active street gangs searching for the minority class, brutalizing them, and then getting a slap on the wrist from the courts. This isn't happening to trans people yet, and infact it's been happening in the opposite political direction with antifa members beating up and killing suspected conservatives. I especially remember the video clip from 2020 of a leftist guy in oregon or washington, USA, yelling
"HEY WE GOT A TRUMPER HERE"
*POW! POW! POW!*
and then a centrist guy is dead. he wasn't even rightwing he just wasn't leftist and was suspected of supporting trump.
point being, there are midpoints. we haven't crossed those midpoints. its not in the ruling administrations charter to dehumanise the people you mention. maybe believe their manifestos. Mr. H-man Uniball was very outspoken about who deserved death. listen to who your enemy is focusing on to find out what they will do.
We may no longer be recognized as the gender we want on legal forms, which is terrible, and absolute worst case is that HRT is no longer on the table for health insurance coverage. I don't think they are going to go further than that. maybe the next guy that comes along will have an axe to grind. but they haven't listed any arbitrary demographic as less than human yet.
As american LGBT, It is your primary objective right now to keep a level head. do not speculate, criticize only on the effects policies have already had. point out what might happen, but don't act like its absolutely going to go as bad as you think. because if it doesn't, you will look unhinged, and that's fodder against your demographic. Your best tool against potential systemic targeting against you is to connect with people outside your demographic and prove that your are a normal well adjusted human being. That is how societal change is made: not in the street riots, but in social calls and in the hearts of friends and neighbours.
