I found this .... worth a read ...
http://www.buteasuperba.co.cc/
Especially this section towards the bottom ..... "However, you must be aware that a large dose, or prolonged use, is very toxic to the liver, and can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, low blood pressure, or a history of heart or liver disease, it is safest to leave the Viagra alone, and try the above tonic instead. Use no more than two or three capsules of Butea Superba, depending upon your weight, height, and age, no more than once or twice per month, and only on a very occasional basis. "
Hi,
many thanks for that. It's a pity they didn't give any references for these assertions though.
According to this paper, BS isn't toxic to the liver.
http://www.tm.mahidol.ac.th/seameo/2002-33-suppl-3/034-155.pdf
"Extensive research of its sub-chronic toxicity by Manosroi et al (2000) revealed that B. superba had no effect on liver and kidney function; moreover, the highest dose used (625mg/kg) tended to increase the number of epididymal sperm and significantly increased the rats’ testicular weight. These results seem to support the claims that B. superba promotes male sexual activity."
I'm also not 100% convinced by Dr Weil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Weil#Criticisms)
but thanks anyway - I appreciate the thought!
B.
