I`ve seen reference to this for phyto-estrogens in general - according to some websites, the body can`t use phyto-estrogens in the form they are in the plant, they are converted during digestion ( or somehow ) into some other form that the body can use.

I don`t know if it applies to all types of phyto-estrogens or just some.
