i started out with 500mg per day for the first week. Then 1000mg for a few weeks. I had to move slow because I seem to be sensitive to it. More than 2000 per day doesn't agree with me. I remember initially it gave me nasty gas pains for a couple of days. So I didn't want to take more too fast. I know others have had problems jumpping in with higher dosages. I say take it slow, see how you react. Nothing is going to happen over night anyway.
