one other possibility.

the back pain I have had came from my kidneys, perhaps PM has a side benefit of loosening & flushing kidney stones out of our systems.
(the "benefit" being getting rid of the stones early before they get real painful.)

it could explain both the back pain and the reduced urine flow.
