Yeah, my wife was a skeptic too, but her own research has her on my side now in regards to what could have been and our dietary changes. She did state though even if we knew beforehand she would have insisted on surgery and conventional treatment.
Besides that, most people are so convinced that only a doctor can treat or kill what ails them that they never even attempt anything holistic. Great to hear all is well with your mom. Hopefully whatever changes she made she'll keep doing to prevent future instances.
