Lotus, I have nobody on my ignore list. I just avoid the postings of several individuals. I do not hold myself as superior to anyone here. I am also not a snob; back when I had friends, they came from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed or color. I guess it is my own personal pet peeve/flaw that I am constantly editing everything I read, and I find errors nearly everywhere, including articles on major news sites. Perhaps it has something to do with having a degree in math so I process language differently and see sentences as equations or something. I really don't know. My father also had a degree in math and was even more strict about grammar. To me, language is about communication. There's a big difference between, "Let's eat, grandma," and "Let's eat grandma." Commas can save lives. Perhaps my biggest flaw is that I am a perfectionist.
I'm not sure how the number of top posts one makes is relevant. I don't have a lot of questions, and I don't have much progress to report. I also don't post for the sake of hearing myself talk, unlike some others. I contribute what I can when I can. I'm a loner, and I like to live in the background. I'd rather be thought of as being worthy of reading because what I have to say is usually relevant/informative/interesting as opposed to just throwing as much stuff out there as I can just to see what sticks which, to me, smacks of always needing attention, something I try to avoid even at work. I think it is a bad thing when my boss's boss knows my name.
After having been online for about 17 years and seeing all kinds of behavior, I have learned not to "feed the troll." Instead of expressing outrage over the behavior I find undesirable, I simply ignore it most of the time. I find it works better to just ignore such people than to engage them. Attention is what they seek. If we pay no attention to them, they go somewhere else to play until they get the kind of attention they crave. I report lots of the spam threads, but unlike some here, I feel no need to add a post to the thread stating I have done so because such an action acknowledges the poster, and that "feeds the troll" so to speak.
Mymoobs, just because a person doesn't have a lot of formal education does not make the person stupid or unworthy. Honestly, your posts are easier to read than those of many here who have had more formal education. I have no beef with you.
