(28-03-2014, 08:38 PM)~Lotus~ Wrote:  LittleMissS,

I like the fact you're putting in the time and effort to find out what will work better for you. Have you ever had your Testosterone checked?.

The more you know=the better you grow, (well thats imo) Wink

Lotus I had it checked about 5 years ago when I went for a prostate exam, I had prostate troubles and ED... The doctor said it was fine and "in the normal range" and prescribed viagra and cialis, told me to eat better and exercise more...

I took SP on and off for years to help with the prostate and it did help a bit....

Other than that no.... I assume there WAS plenty though because all my hair fell out over the yearsSad Not sure about now but Id say its gotta be lower with all the PM and spearmint Im taking....

Anyway after finally losing a ton of weight and getting in much better shape both the ED and prostate troubles are gone EVEN on a huge dose of NBE Smile

Im still trying to figure out Chinese Skullcap Rolleyes

Licorice tea is very good I think... I also like green tea...

Id like to find white peony in a cap form but I guess tea would be good too Wink I does look like a very pretty flower, gonna look into putting some in the garden this year Cool

No cable, seriously!, I never really new how much time I lost by watching tv. And I usually have like 4-5 pages at a time of research going. Picked that up from being a efficient channel surfer (years of experience there, lol), plus being an insomniac really doesn't help much either. So thank you cable TV, Rolleyes

Chrishoney, you'll have to go back a couple of pages for my response to your question. But I have one for you, actually it's a couple. Have you ever read from Mike Mahler?, anyways a great read and certainly a different take on DHT, here's a couple of paragraphs:

Physicians commonly blame DHT as the primary cause of an prostate enlargement but deeper analysis indicates the androgen-to-estrogen balance, along with overall androgen ratios, is the key factor with prostate issues. According to Jonathan Wright, M.D. (Maximize Your Vitality And Potency) the balance of DHT and 4-androstenedione should be 1:1. If DHT is higher and androstenedione lower, it creates a pro-carcinogenic state. However, if DHT and androstenedione levels are both high and at a 1:1 ratio, the pro-carcinogenic properties of high DHT are neutralized by the anti-carcinogenic properties of androstenedione. So if you've had blood work indicating high DHT levels, be sure to have the androstenedione levels measure as well.

One important point about herbal supplements, make sure to avoid saw palmetto, which can block the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Given that DHT is more potent than testosterone, this is the last thing you want. Saw palmetto can also reduce androgen receptor uptake of testosterone and DHT, which just makes things worse. Instead, take nettle root, which shows numerous benefits, including unbinding testosterone and DHT from the glycoprotein sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG). In other words, supplementing nettle root can increase free testosterone and free DHT levels, making both readily available for use. Secondly, nettle root helps block the conversion of testosterone into estrogen and third, nettle root is great for prostate issues and has been shows to decrease nighttime urination frequency, improve urination power, and help shrink enlarged prostate tissue. Happily, nettle root is inexpensive and widely available.

Next question, what's your take on this, I've read that T to DHT ratio should be 10:1, yet Dr. Wright says it should be 1:1, anything below the 10:1 ratio is known to cause a whole host of health related problems (serious).

10:1 ratio

So what's your take?

Few things I do not understand, Lotus:

But we want to block the conversion of testosterone into DHT. We don't want any DHT, right? Huh

Why do we want to increase free DHT levels? Huh

Sorry for those questions. Shy

That's a statement from a doctor on this website I listed, which makes me understand why Jcap114 said you'd need to supplement with more E to make Nettle a viable option which we'd be already doing with our phytoestrogens right?,

Nettle Root - Binds to SHBG (binds to excess hormones decreasing hormone levels), and decreases 5ar and aromatase. Taking this tends to increase estrogen and testosterone. Would need to be taken with a pro-aromatase, and maybe estrogen.

Peggy, when you get a chance check in on that web listing it might shed some light. But the part about blocking T to E goes along the lines of it being an Aromatase inhibitor. (AI's are not NBE friendly)

Peggy, it would would seem that NR does this fine dance so speak around T(free t) and E, meaning it raises both and tends to leave it all dressed up and no place to go dancing.

That's why it needs a little help from us, ya know tweaking with NBE herbs (pro-Aromatase and phytoestrogens)
