Well that went better than I thought it would so far
So I get there wearing a pair of nice denim shorts and a tank top, (been warm here lately and Im told I have great legs
)...
The nurse comes out into the waiting room and calls for me by my old male name
She looked pretty surprised when I got up
So we get in the exam room and she asks about medications Im on....
Well that was fun
I take out a tube of oestrogel, estrofem 2mg, progynova EV 2mg, generic teva E2 2mg, spiro 100 mg, dutasteride gell caps and 100 mg progesterone gell caps
Took a while to to explain all the dosages and when and why Im taking all of this
Weighed in at 155, and measured in at 5' 7", I asked her to check again because Ive always been 5' 8" but apparently Ive become 20 lbs lighter and an inch shorter somehow
Blood pressure is usually right at a perfect 120 over 80 but it was 112 over 80 this time... Must be the spiro lowering it a little, the nurse was not concerned though...
So then the doc comes in and first we talk about the letter I want her to write for the court, SS, passport, and drivers license... Id printed out a sheet detailing everything it needs to say and she says she has no problem doing that for me
HUGE relief there
Then we start talking HRT.... First its about the spiro and I tell her it seems to be working well at 200mg daily with no bad side effects... She agrees I should keep taking that at 200mg
Then the Dutas, again she has no problem with that and agrees I should continue taking it
Then on to the progesterone... I tell her Ive been cycling it 1 week out of the month because I dont like the effects if I take it longer than that... She says well most women feel like crap on progesterone and you really dont need it at all... So Im thinking to myself OK well WTF did you start me out on Medroxyprogesterone acetate then
Didnt say anything though...
On to the E... She was very interested in the gel and we had a nice conversation about avoiding the first pass through the liver and E1 E2 and E3 ratios
I mentioned I had some patches on the way and I was gonna try patches and gel... She says she likes that but she's concerned I wont get a high enough E level that way... So again Im thinking to myself now she's concerned about low E levels, WTF was I only prescribed 2mg then
Again I didnt say anything though...
So then I say Id like to go with weekly injections.... She says they dont do that out of her office and she would be concerned about the liability involved there
So then she asks me if Im full time female and I say yes of course, she says Im looking good and asks how I feel on all this.... Never felt better I truthfully answer
She says she thinks I probably dont need all that E Im on
But then she says as long as its working well and you feel good its probably OK though
I agree with that
So she says she will do all the appropriate tests for the spiro and see where all my levels come out and she will likely keep me on the spiro and dutas and try to come up with a gel/patch E regime... I mention we could do that along with a little oral E if necessary
SO now Im just waiting on the lab results and hopefully T is cratered and E isnt TOO high for her
It will be very interesting to see what she comes up with...
I gotta say I was VERY pleasantly surprised, she was a total BITCH on my first visit.... It was like seeing a totally different doc this time
I did see her the first time as an andro looking male though... She was dealing with a woman (and a not half bad looking one) this time
That and the name/gender change letter request really helped no doubt, also I think she appreciated me being honest with her about what Im on...
So now I wait for the lab results and hopefully a correctly written letter...
I figure try whatever she prescribes for another three months then go back and complain about the undoubtedly high cost of this regime and ask for a referral to a local endo I have in mind that treats TG patients... Id again be hoping for weekly injections, maybe from her or if necessary the endo
