FAQ-What are Fibrocystic Breasts?

#1

Fibrocystic Breasts

If your familiar with Fibrocystic Breasts or FBD, which is characterized by lumpiness and pain in the breast(s), the lumps are described as small masses or cysts. The condition is common and usually not cancerous, but occurs mostly in women between the ages of 30 to 50 yrs. old. And often related to hormonal changes from the menstrual cycle, obstructed ducts, inflammation and infection.

Some of the pain caused by FBD gets so bad just by brushing up against them causes severe pain and often is unbearable. Lumps are described as smooth with defined edges and free moving. Lumps are often located around the outer edges and underarm.

All lumps shouldn't be dismissed as benign and should be checked by a doctor.

Available treatments
  • Cutting caffeine and avoiding stress as much as possible has been suggested.
  • However having cysts drained has been problematic for some, (meaning it's on
    going).
  • Adequate bra support
  • Anti-imflammatory medications
  • Vitamin E
  • EPO-Evening Primrose Oil
  • Tamoxifen- (in short duration) known side effects though

It's been reported that a small % of Fibrocystic breast condition involved changes that could be risk factors for breast cancer.

Please check out my thread: Fibrocystic Breast Disease And Iodine

I had very painful breasts in late luteal phase, but now after 9 weeks of using iodine I can report that the pain is gone 100%. No more painful breasts. Smile

I still have a lump in my breast but since taking iodine its finally getting smaller. I still avoid high estrogenic herbs.

Hey that's awesome Peggy.

I've been reading up on my thyroid problem.....iodine can either really help or really make it worse. I've started taking it today......it's a liquid.

How much did you take?? Really good news Smile

Hi Smile I take Lugols Iodine 2%, 8 drops twice a day. With this dosage it should take 3 months until my body is fully saturated with iodine.
But I started slow. First day one drop, second day two drops etc... After 3 months I can decrease the dosage.

Always make sure that you take Iodine AND Selenium!! That's really very important.

PS: Forgot to mention that I had no cramps during my last period. I only took one pain killer and was pain free! Normally I had to take much more and still had horrible cramps!
So that's another BIG bonus. I believe the fibroid in my uterus is also shrinking due to the Iodine and that's why I had no cramps. Smile
