Anti-Androgens

I've read that Swanson is a super good brand in this community, but i can't seem to locate any on Amazon?? :/

Which of the 3 is best/ most potent to take for inhibiting DHT???? Or can u take more than 1 of these to inhibit DHT faster?? =D
You can order Reishi direct from Swanson, or get LEF's product if you want to exactly duplicate the Pharmanex experiments. The human dose is estimated at a gram a day. Links. There aren't any human studies on Reishi vs 5-AR, so we don't know how effective it is for that. I'm concerned that the triterpenes that do the 5-AR inhibition might not stick around in the body very long and you'd have gaps in coverage unless you nibble on it all day like rats do. I put a link to the only pharmacokinetic study I could find in this link. (There's also a link to a White Peony product there. I'm not aware of any evidence that White Peony inhibits 5-AR. It seems to just lower testosterone synthesis and increase aromatase.) Reishi is so useful for lifespan and cancer prevention that it'd be a great thing to take even if it turns out to be impractical for lowering DHT.

So it seems that the only sure thing for DHT inhibition is something with beta sitosterol, unless someone with personal experience with Reishi and knows it works can chime in.

We've already established Reishi as a strong inhibitor of 5-ar,

Red reishi, commonly known as LingZhi in Chinese, is a mushroom thought to have many health benefits. In a research study exploring the anti-androgenic effects of 20 species of mushrooms, reishi mushrooms had the strongest action in inhibiting testosterone (3). That study found that reishi mushrooms significantly reduced levels of 5-alpha reductase, preventing conversion of testosterone into the more potent DHT. High levels of DHT are a risk factor for conditions such as benign prostatatic hypertrophy (BPH), acne, and baldness.

Rat metabolism is 3x that of humans, so of course they can nibble all day, other factors must be considered though, (e.g. certain drugs are metabolized faster in rats).

NATURAL PROGESTERONE- (PC is another strong 5 alpha reductase inhibitor), ALSO AGAINST BPH AND PROSTATE CANCER.

♦ PROGESTERONE is a natural inhibitor of 5-alpha reductase - an enzyme needed to convert TESTOSTERONE to growth- stimulating di-hydroTESTOSTERONE (DHT). Not only is DHT implicated in BPH and prostate cancer, but this conversion also reduces TESTOSTERONE, thus lowering the TESTOSTERONE to estrogen ratio and creating an estrogen dominance situation.

I like Reishi for 5-AR inhibition.

Hang on to the FG in case you need progesterone and/or prolactin later on.

Which states Ganoderma Lucidum inhibited both types of 5 alpha-reductase, (Graul et al., 1999). In addition, the treatment of Ganoderma lucidum itself or its extract significantly inhibited the testerone-induced growth of the ventral prostate in castrated rats. These results suggest that the suppression effect of prostatic growth by Ganoderma lucidum might come in part from its ability to act as an inhibitor of 5 ar.

An Update on Plant Derived Anti-Androgens

Chinese peony, which promotes the aromatization of testosterone into estrogen; green tea, which contains epigallocatechins and also inhibits 5-alpha reductase, thereby reducing the conversion of normal testosterone into the more potent DHT.

Again, it's all been posted along with personal experience on Reishi.

Reishi also promotes E, that's also been shared.

That is not in dispute. It's the duration of effect that could be a problem. We can't use the rat prostate study to build confidence because rats munch on their food all day, so they can keep blood levels up despite the short half-life. Can you link to some people's anecdotal reports of Reishi's effectiveness vs DHT symptoms so that we can see how strongly it can be recommended?

That says green tea inhibits 5-AR. There's nothing in the paper about peony inhibiting 5-AR.

Willow Herb,

The Willow herb is considered a common weed but may have potential benefit in prostate disorders. Oenothein B, a substance in willow herb, appears to have 5-alpha-reductase inhibitory activity.

Come on, you can find it, the info is out there.......
