Lotus, by saying convert aromatase, do you mean promoting aromatase? Thanks, POM

Hi POM, conversion is the synthesis of free testosterone to estrogen, E2 estradiol through the testosterone pathway as shown in the diagrams, so yes it promotes. DHEA can also convert through the androstenedione pathway to E1 estrone, another estrogen (weaker than E1, as seen in post menopause).

Thanks Lotus, and PM also promotes aromatase?

Yes, the genistien in PM is an aromatase promoter, good question.

I apologize if this question is addressed elsewhere -- I just couldn't find it.

Hi spanky,

I don't believe there's parabens are in oestrogel, that's the synthetic transdermal gel if that's what you meant.

The only one I'm familiar with is the mountain herb brand, it's not cheap. But it's paraben and fragrance free, it's a light yellow cream, good stuff. It's pretty weak though and only delivering E1.

Would something like this work for us?http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/product/sigma/g6649?lang=en®ion=CA

Even though genistein promotes aromatase its something that needs careful consideration. I've found conflicting evidence promoting Breast cancer.

Impact of lower concentrations of phytoestrogens on the effects of estradiol in breast cancer cells.

I think the safer approach for aromatase, and that's adding fatty acids found in our daily diet of omega 3 and 6's, ALA's, and WP too. Now there's a class of anabolic steroids that causes aromatase buts it's just to dangerous. Ultimately the main issue or obstacle is DHT, it non-aromatizble, period!!! Rolleyes if DHT was eliminated you could count on C's and D's lol, (j/k) you get the picture.

Anyone Heard/know anything about this brand of Reishi Extract?

http://www.amazon.com/Planetary-Herbals-Spectrum-Extract-Supplement/dp/B000M4FLJO/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'm almost out of WP and am thinking of giveing Reishi a try

If this is a decent brand I'll order myself 2/3 bottles. at that price.

Hi Lenneth,

I haven't seen those brands before, yeah the one for 43+ does seem excessive. I don't see the extract ratio which, or maybe I missed it?.

So I see a possible correlation with inflammation (systemic, chronic) and phytoestrogens (maybe more so in PM). Now this could vary according to your inflammatory response, meaning what's in your daily diet.

“Acute inflammation normally resolves by mechanisms that have remained somewhat elusive. Emerging evidence now suggests that an active, coordinated program of resolution initiates in the first few hours after an inflammatory response begins. After entering tissues, granulocytes promote the switch of arachidonic acid–derived prostaglandins and leukotrienes to lipoxins, which initiate the termination sequence. Neutrophilrecruitment thus ceases and programmed death by apoptosis is engaged. These events coincide with the biosynthesis, from omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, of resolvins and protectins, which critically shorten the period of neutrophil infiltration by initiating apoptosis. As a consequence, apoptotic neutrophils undergo phagocytosis by macrophages, leading to neutrophil clearance and release of anti-inflammatory and reparative cytokines such as transforming growth factor-β1. The anti-inflammatory program ends with the departure of macrophages through the lymphatics.”
—Charles Serhan

So inflammation may also reduce the biosynthesis of albumin, the part of blood plasma that carries the more bio-active hormones that can be influenced to become active, unlike SHBG-sex hormone binding globulin.

Sorry if this is out there, I don't think this has been addressed yet, when you get time try and look over this link from Wikipedia, it's very informative. There's a ton of other info out there about this so other sites might explain it better. And seriously look into the ratio of omega 3's to omega 6's, it should favor more 3's, that should help in reducing immflamation. You might see some better gains once inflammation is reduced.

The 1:1 ratio (alcohol free) that Swanson's states would be the better choice, the planetaryherbal doesn't list the ratio. And 45% alcohol might be an issue for some, but there's ways to get around that.
