Hello.

Your question has been asked in another thread. I suggest giving it a read.

I went to my doc and asked for finn and spiro to combat hair loss. He didn't blink and wrote out the script. However he did caution be about the side effects. It's been several weeks now and I'm thinking of going back asking for estradiol and tell him I want to reduce the rug I wear on my arms and legs and just soften up some features so I don't look like a cave man. I have a very tough beard. He's near retirement so I think I may be able to pull it off. Either way, I don't want to do SRS but, just like I said, soften up some facial and body features and quietly grow some gurls along the way.

Umm... soften up will not be the only thing that will happen. You might as well say you are transitioning.

You can either be upfront and ask or you can seek out a clinic that operates under the informed consent model and just go to them to start HRT. Since they are already accepting and knowledgable you may find this a more suitable approach. There are a few with-in your geographic area, Washington DC, Richmond Virginia, Asheville NC and one in Raleigh NC.

There may be other doctors or clinics closer to you that work off of the "Informed Consent" model, which simply means as long as you are competent enough to make an informed decision no therapist letter is required.

I agree, if their intention is to transition then being honest and saying that is for the best. However their intention may not be to transition in which case "soften up" might be more accurate. Smile
