Hi,
I have taken various brands of saw palmetto. After taking it for a year, I eventually stopped when I realized they may be the cause of why I have been feeling slightly nauseous. Eventually when I stopped all my supplements, including Nature's Way standarized extract of Reishi Root at the time, the nausea went away within about a week or so.
At that time I have been taking Saw Palmetto Extract at 320 mg, brand is NOW.
Recently I got some propecia/finasteride pills. However, Saw Palmetto is a lot cheaper and I'm thinking of going back on it. However, I don't trust a lot of these brands, especially with studies like how a lot of them are bogus, and I think I may have been getting poisoned.
Does anyone have insight into this or have suggestions, perhaps of an easily accessible SP that has NOT given them nausea?
Thanks!

I like Barlowe's Reishi as it is standardized to both triterpenes and polysaccharides. Been using it for two months with good results.

Thank you for your replies? Does anyone use Saw Palmetto? Which brands?

I thought this was a good product. Cheaper saw palmetto gave me headaches. Also, if you research the supercritical processing methods, it's a good thing to get the most effective product. I don't use it anymore, but it was effective.

Ahh, so looks like you are a huge proponent of Swansons.
@Janet, I took it to see if it would help me grow back or slow down my receding hairline. Luckily, my hairline is fairly okay, and if it is receding it isn't happening very quickly. But, I didn't want to take chances. Of course, I also wanted to see if there can be any feminizing results.
I am actually on 1 mg finasteride daily now. Started about a week ago. Of course, saw palmetto would be cheaper. It's just that these supplements are so unregulated and you just don't know what kind of crap they put in it. I remember reading about a study of a lot of brands, like target supplement brands about how the majority of the brands tested have a lot of bogus ingredients. At least with these prescribed drugs there's more of a sense of control, and I guess that's what I'm paying for. I did feel prolonged nausea from taking these supplements, and according to others, even friends that normally won't nag on my appearance (unlike your mom), they've all agreed that I look a lot thinner, and how my face is more concaved in. It makes me wonder if I've been poisoning myself for over a year or so (don't know since I've been using different brands), with these shady and unregulated brands.

The girl friend put me onto Purica red reishi. They have guaranteed 35% standardized extract. Swanson that I was taking is only 10%. They are not the cheapest at 45$ for 120 capsules. I hate swallowing pills so less is more.

I used to use Saw Palmetto, but discontinued it, as I found green Tea extracts to be more suitable to reduce the DHT that causes HairFall, or receding hairlines.
