Help blocking a number?

#1

Hey everyone :] I was hoping someone might be able to help me-- I am looking to block a number.

I have Verizon and there is a section where you can block up to 5 numbers for free but 2 months ago I tried to use it and it didn't work. It kept giving me an error. I decided to switch to a texting app that has a blocking feature but I really miss my old texting app, however it doesn't have a block feature.

So I was wondering if anyone might know of an app that blocks text messages on andriod from certain numbers that isn't a 3rd party texting app. Is there something I can download that will run in the back ground and block the messages without me using a different app to text with?

The built in block list on the phone only rejects calls, not texts Sad

any help is appreciative! thanks so much! Smile

Have you contacted Verizon's Tech Help? They may have an easy solution.

I have Sad they told me two things:

1. that the server was fine and

2. that they were doing something new, apparently they stopped hosting the blocked number feature for certain people who don't have a certain package, or that they were taking it away.

It was really weird-- they kind of sounded like they didn't know what they were talking about. They told me that 2 months ago when the feature stopped working for me. I found it odd as there was no disclaimer on the Verizon site stating that they were doing that either.

I actually just tried to plug in the numbers on verizon and it saved. So I guess they were talking out of their you-know-whats. Rolleyes I still would love any input on an app that will allow me to block numbers because I feel like I can't count on the free verizon blocking anymore. =( I want some stability in knowing that once I block the numbers, it will stay blocked and will continue to work.

(verizon makes you update the numbers every 3 months, so in 3 months when I plug in the numbers again I don't want it to give me the error and I am back at square one, yano? :[ ) I found an app called mr.number but I think it's a 3rd party app you have to use. :/

On my Andriod device I'm given the option to report text messages as spam.  I assume this would block the number, but I haven't tried it yet as I haven't had the need.  Does your phone have some sort of feature such as this?

I have no idea if this will work, but on my old flip phone, I would just make a new contact, give them a silly name, and add all the numbers that I wanted to block to that contact. If I remember correctly, my flip phone had a block contact feature.

Even if that feature isn't present on your phone, ignoring messages from Spammy McSpamSpam shouldn't be too hard.
