I just came across this article on my Facebook feed and ehen I sae the sub-title and read the aeticle, my firsts thoughts were dsmn, where do I sign up to volunteer as a human test subject to change my genetic code to make me female, or least give me breats?

Speculation
Aromatase
Is an enzyme the produces estradiol/estrogen in males from testosterone. Males need a little bit of E. Testosterone and Estrogen are chemical similar and T can become E via a chemical process called aromatization.
Gynecomastia will develop in males if the ratio of E to T elevates. Feminization such as developing breasts results. This affects 20% of males over age 50 - it is common.
Aromatase Excess Syndrome - traced to one gene - they think...
There is a condition called aromatase excess syndrome
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aromatas...s_syndrome
Research is focused on a mutation of a single gene (CYP19A1). this is inheritable and autosomal dominant with varying levels of expression in both males and females.
CRISPR Technology
CRISPR is a technology that allows specific editing of a genetic code.
A research study showed promising results at using CRISPR technology to modify a cold virus to modify the retina's DNA to produce a single protein needed to halt or limit the effects of exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The virus was injected into the eye of patients destined to go blind from the disease and volunteered to try this experimental treatment. About 50 percent halted or improved from the effects from the disease. A second study is planned on patients not so severely affected.

What if...
In a similar way it may be possible to edit the cellular machinery that produces the aromatase enzyme to naturally convert testosterone into estradiol/estrogen at a higher efficiency as it does in aromatase excess syndrome?
Your naturally occurring "T" would be gobbled up quicker to make "E" to feminize your body with one injection.
This may be just a single gene edit.
Weaponization?
What if a cold virus with this edit is developed and becomes easily transmissible as regular colds can? A "Trans Virus" could cause "Forced Feminization" of males.
It is speculation but it would appear to be possible to create a vaccine to protect the population in theory.

So the question then is, where can I find scientist willing to develop this for me? I mean wouldnt it be a lot safer than HRT?

Possibly....or the above statement could be added to a long list of famous last words. This is largely uncharted territory scientifically speaking....sometimes there is vast difference between theory and practice

True enough. But one can certainly dream!
