eyes, pelvis and HRT

#1

Couple of questions to the group if I may?

I have read in a few places that as HRT progresses it can effect the shape of the eye, and consequentially eyesight.  But as for how it affects eyesight and by what degree, as I try to dig a little deeper it all gets obscured by techno-jargon and just becomes increasingly vague.

Also, the female pelvis is tilted slightly more back than in males.  It is accepted that bone structure doesn't change under HRT, but HRT clearly does affect muscle and tendons.  It has been inferred that as posture changes the pelvis may actually tilt more towards the female position?

I wonder, has anyone else come across these points or even perhaps even personal experience?

Well yes
I have noticed both changes
Will give in depth comment when I have ascertained in depth the exact level of changes and if any can or cannot be attributed to old age

for me the eye changes came on fairly quickly and was very noticable, especially the color aspect of it.
colors seem Way more vivid to me now, i described it at the time as like HD tv in technicolor, and overtime your peripheral vision will be so much wider too, and my eyes have gotten a shade or 2 lighter as well.
as for the pelvic tilt I kinda had that already anyway but i have lost 2 inches in height in 2 years so maybe it`s gotten a bit more tilted or something else has happened?
probably THE most noticable was my sense of smell, after a about 1 month it was like a Super power! LOL
you`re sense of touch will improve no end as well, although contrary to most others it affected my temperature sensitivity in a good way, I don`t feel the cold anywhere near as much as I used to now, most people get really sensitive to it, I didn`t?

there`s way too many changes to list really, but that`s a few. xx

I have lost close to three inches in height. Some of it is probably most likely attributed to “pelvic tilt”, but I swear my thighs have shrunk in length. I know it’s said that bones do not shrink, but every time I’m in the shower shaving my legs I swear that my thighs are shorter in length. I do not know for certain “where” I’ve lost height, but I *am* almost three inches shorter now than when I first started NBE.

Oh wow!

I was expecting "well yeh a bit... perhaps" kind of reply, but to have such identifiable changes is a surprise.   I was particularly concerned about eyesight as my vision is noticing the effect of getting older as it is, and the prospect of it getting worse is somewhat unsettling.  But better peripheral vision and colour awareness would be most welcome.

Your comments are much appreciated and I suspect will make for encouraging reading for many here.  Thanks. [Image: biggrin.gif]

Oh, and Katie, you look amazing in your new dress![Image: blush.gif]

I cannot say I have observed the eye changes myself, but I have heard it mentioned before. As for the pelvic tilt, possibly tbe way that fat deposits change may give the illusion of a greater tilt ?

I read in a couple of white papers, that HRT can cause or speed up cataracts....   BINGO.  A year ago my eye doctor thought I maybe developing such, and and my last exam she was amazed how quickly it developed in a years time.

I have not noticed increased in color sensitivity, but with cataracts, it may be the reason????

And yes, My pelvis has rotated posteriorly...  And my GD warned me I could loose an couple of inches due to reconfiguration of joints, cartilage and tendons....  I went from 5'10" to 5'8" along with the normal changes expected like breast growth and fat redistribution.

Re: Cataracts

Curious, taking any statins? Those are clearly linked with causing cataracts.

Really interesting replies.

I knew BO can cause eye damage.  Remember Lotus mentioning having a real problem with detached retina from using BO. That's scary!

But cataracts too?  Suspect as you say, it could make an underlying problem worse and/or a combo effect.  Definitely worth keeping aware of though.

Knew that muscle and tendons are affected with HRT.  But just assumed it was more a reduction in their size and strength that would be the main result.  But even though the underlying bone is not supposed to be affected much (though some seem to report it actually may with time?), I suppose it's pretty obvious that if the connective tissue "loosens up" it will have a direct knock on with posture, movement and positioning of the bones.

Just shows, always things to learn and the benefit of sharing experiences.
