Important decision - switch pharma to herbal HRT

#1

Hello everyone.
Elissa here.
Been a while since I last posted.
Some update. Made some important decisions.

I continued my transition without synthetic HRT. I just didn’t like the side-effects and the longterm health risks. I am continueing my transition with herbal HRT.

Here is what I take :

1000 mg of Pueraria Mirifica from the Biovea brand daily

500 mg of Black Cohosh of the Puritan’s Pride brand daily

2 capsules of Menohop, Metagenics, a pharmaceutical grade herbal brand of standardized hops extract and standardized soy extract in one. It’s very concentrated and very potent. The bio-active molecules have been extracted from the hops and soy plants and been brought together for maximum estrogenic activity.

I have been very sceptical about herbal HRT in the past but I made the switch and feel a lot better on my new regimen than on the old one.

Pharma HRT had too many side-effects for me.
I feel better on herbal HRT and I have been seeing great results since I started the switch.

I was on pharma HRT for almost 3 years and have been on phyto HRT for almost 3 months now.

I am not detransitioning, just to clarify, I’m still crazily happy to live as a female. I am female, always been and the source of my HRT doesn’t make me more or less of a woman.

I am very happy with the decisions that I took.

I have ultimately decided against SRS. I’m staying non-op.
I consider myself a non-op trans woman. I have had in depth discussions with various SRS surgeons and where SRS is now is not what I want. The surgical techniques are not advanced enough for my liking.

I am going to get FFS surgery in the near future. This in combination with my herbal regimen should guarantee me that I keep my passability as a woman.

In my social life everything is going well as well as in my professional life.
I’m at a point where I wanted to be.
I feel elated, relaxed.

The FFS procedures that I’m having done are : rhinoplasty and brow ridge correction.
For the rest everything is perfectly within female range. Even my nose and brow ridge are not bad but they bother me.

For a long time I felt forced to undergo SRS. Now I realise it doesn’t make me less of a woman for not having it.
Gigi Gorgeous also recently came out for her decision to be a non-op trans woman.

In general, there is too much unhappiness in post-operative trans women and in those who use synthetic hormones.

People who have socially transitioned and use herbal hormones are generally more likely to experience less side-effects and more happiness.

None of the choices synthetic - herbal is more valid than the other. This is just my finding.

Herbal HRT at a relatively high dose is keeping my gender dysphoria under control together with social transition and electrolysis.

I feel balanced, finally.

I will keep you all updated.

I think it is important to share my non-standard journey of transition with others so that more than one option is lighted.

As a binary transsexual woman I felt shameful for not wanting SRS for a long time. Now I don’t feel that shame anymore. Transition is about happiness within your own body.
Getting to live as my true self ( a woman ) every day and only chosing the procedures that I want is what makes me happy.
Transition should be customized, not defaulted.

I will update regularly.
Love to all.

Hugs,
Elissa

I was warned to stay away from HRT. I have 6 prescriptions for serious and critical illnesses that I wanted to avoid drug interactions and side effects of HRT. I have been using herbs for almost 2 years with very few drug interactions.

I am happy with my decision to come off  synthetic HRT.

I feel better on herbal HRT and the results have been good so far, still early at 3 months but very pleased so far?

I’ve been curious how things are working out for you.

I’m living the dream to be honest.
I feel so good in my skin. I never thought I would reach this point.
Pueraria Mirifica and hops are having very strong effects on me. My breasts keep growing and my gender dysphoria is under control. I still present as a woman and have not been misgendered in ages. I’m planning on FFS and breast implants. The next stage is finding a boyfriend. I really crave for a strong man in my life now :-P

not saying your right or wrong,

but if your determined womanhood is correct for you which judging from your looks and development
certainly seems that way

Why dont you have an oriechthomy

Once the testicles are gone the estrogen intake you need would be so low either from
pharma or natural

Would solve many possible problems ?

Hi Julie,
it would solve a lot of problems, true, but I would be obligated to go on Androcur 50 mg for 1 year. That’s the protocol in my country because without 1 year of Androcur they simply refuse to write a letter.

If I’m going to see dr Arnkoff in Detroit who does informed consent orchiectomies, I would need  to save up $3000 for the procedure, at least $1000 to stay a week in a hotel in the area, 500$ living expenses for a week, 1500$ airfare and if you come from overseas he wants 1 letter that would come to 500-1000$.
I’m already in college debt to finance my studies, so that’s 7000$ I can’t cough up at the moment. But in the midlongterm that is definitely something I consider.

Going fulltime was what solved most of my dysphoria. Just being out there and getting to live as me 24/7. Herbal HRT have done lots of good things since I switched 3 months ago.

I will also have permanently low T after 3 years on strong pharma HRT. My leydig cells surely have been irreversibly damaged, so T will never climb up in male ranges again after all that time.

Wonder what evidence, if any, there is to support the claims that unlicensed herbal products with possibility of unknown ingredients and fillers are the safer way?

Anecdotal evidence only but if you look around you will notice many transsexual women die before the age of 70 due to all kinds of health problems. Breast implants and hormones are often mentioned to have been catalyst of their bad health by the women themselves. Rene Jax is an example of a trans woman who is on hormones for 43 years already and who publicly admitted that her health decreased after longterm synthetic HRT. She also declared that breast implants made her ill.

There are no proofs that bio-identical estrogen is safer than Ethinylestradiol or Premarin. Gynaecologists still take the same precautions as back in the day.

You can take the risk if you want, I decided not to take it. I’m happy on herbal hormones.
If you are happy on synthetic hormones, then I am happy that you are happy.

These are personal, individually made choices. I made mine. You can make yours. No choice is more valuable. Whatever works for you!

I went on synthetics for 3 years, I have fully grown breasts and areolae now, my hip bones expanded and now I’m taking herbal hormones to maintain the sex characteristics induced by synthetic hormones.
I’m fulltime and I pass quite well.
Going fulltime was what solved 80% of my dysphoria.

Electrolysis is much more important than hormone therapy.
That’s in my opinion at least.

What works for me doesn’t necessarily work for someone else...

Hi Elissa.
I did the same thing in the summer, partly because I was curious and partly because
I ran out of oestrogel.
I had a large amount of PM to work with, plus reishi and spearmint.
At first I felt great. My mind was clearer, my boobs stopped hurting and
my strength came back.
But then I noticed that I was waking up with an erection every morning.
I felt like my boobs started shrinking too.
It could have been the transition between regimes but I freaked out
and went straight out to buy more oestrogel, which took about a month to start working
again.
As you said before, if you're happy and it's working for you, then I'm happy for you
but I didnt feel like it was working as well for me.
I feel much better on the mix I'm back on now.
