It looks like some of fathers/grandfathers might have been up to some shenanigans during the Big war.
Does that make it genetic??

This is interesting. I vaguely recall seeing this before.
I’m a history buff. I ran across a story about Union
troops in the civil war. I was researching gaps in the
standard timeline during the Battle of Atlanta, when
I came across a story when troops raided Carrollton, GA.
They dumped the entire town’s furniture into a big pile,
and lit a bonfire. This was before they started burning
entire towns. But during the looting, troops stole all the
women’s clothing to send back home to their wives.
They stole so many clothes that they couldn’t carry them
all, so they started wearing them. Layering dresses upon
dresses. When all the men were dressed in Southern
women’s dresses, they paraded up & down the main street
in town. When the commanding officer arrived on the
scene, he was disgusted by his men’s manners, that he
ordered them to disrobe and disband, thus the siege and
occupation of Carrollton ended.

Another interesting military side story I’m reminded of here is one of the most bizarre stories in our nation military history. The Newport Sex Scandal. FDR was Secretary of the Navy and he hired gay men to seduce sailors at dockside bars to out homosexuals in the Navy. Weird, but True.
