Finasteride has a bad reputation on fertility for sure.

Steroids on the other hand you can be back to natural levels in 2 years (for something like 98% of people), for most much much sooner e.g 6-12 months. If you have a problem with fertility after steroids it's possible you had it beforehand, undiagnosed.

Apart from that, steroids have been looked at as male contraceptives for a long time. None have made it to market, very hard to guarantee full shutdown. Some of these drugs risked erectile dysfunction as they raised estrogen or prolactin a lot. Many are still able to conceive while on a steroid cycle, there are IFBB pros who have kids.
