Fennel Warning?

#1

I use a liquid version of fennel (Amazon: Edens Garden Fennel- Sweet Essential Oil, 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade). Fennel has been suggested for some as a supplement for NBE and weight loss.  I use a few drops on my thigh every couple of days.  I am taking warfarin and I have a home INR measuring device (blood "thinner" factor).  Recently I stopped taking all other supplements except fennel.  I have noted that my INR has jumped very high while taking the fennel (not good).  I am posting this as a caution for those who maybe on blood thinners.  Foods high in vitamin K lower the INR and may help counter act  the blood thinning effect of fennel.  Green tea is mentioned in some Rx websites as high in vitamin K.

Fully agree, you need to be very careful as many herbs for NBE affect INR.   I monitor also my INR at home.   I got a monitor after I was put on warfarin and it lowered my INR to dangerous level ( causing clots - exact opposite of what was intended ).   I was put on eliquis after they almost killed me with the warfarin.

Now I only take I take fennel and Saw Palmetto as a blood thinners ( much cheaper and just as effective as eliquis for me ),  as it both increases Aromatase and also to helps reduce risk of clots.  Taking estrogen or estrogen like herbs increases you risk of blood clots.
