Picking my name was a process of elimination for me. I had several criteria that helped to narrow down the process for me:
1. I couldn't know anyone IRL with my name (I didn't want to feel like I was trying to "copy" them)
2. The name had to be easy for others to pronounce and spell (I already live my life with a last name that is near impossible for others to spell and/or pronounce)
3. I didn't want a name with numerous variations (to avoid the problem of others accidently misspelling it on forms)
4. The name needed to had some personal meaning for me
5. I didn't want a name that was suddenly popularized by a movie, TV show or celebrity in recent years (as in after I was born)
6. I didn't want to use a variation of my birth name, as that would make it much easier for the haters to dead-name me.
Alice met all of this criteria and I feel it's a feminine, endearing name.
