The other thing to realise is that some people (I am one) who have a desperate desire to become female only as long as their testosterone levels are high. When their libido goes, they find the need to present totally as a female is diminished substantially.

This effect is known as "Testosterone Toxicity" and described here: http://avitale.com/TNote15Testosterone.htm

I've had a look through your postings, and get the impression that you are not on a particularly high dose of PM. There was an earlier contributor on the board called Diva who lost patience with the growth obtained by PM and went off to get HRT. I feel I must emphasize that growth from PM, and its associated mental benefits, vary by the individual. I need about 3g / day in order to get the mental calm benefits, but that also means that I get maximum growth. Less than that, and my gender dysphoria returns.

Hence, you may find that with a higher dose you may be able to cope more by just cross-dressing, or that that may not even be needed.

Another thing to consider is that PM is less likely to render you permanently sterile, according to papers that I have seen via Google Scholar.

Finally, unless you are particularly blessed with feminine features, you are unlikely to pass without facial feminisation surgery (I guess much more expensive than sperm donation).

I don't know what school kids will be like when your kids go to school, but unless they are radically different to today in the USA, I would think that there would be a fair amount of unpleasantness for them if they have a parent who looks like a man in drag.

I've put some links below regarding people who have transitioned and regretted it.

Good luck,

Bryony

Also Gary Norton - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...again.html

This page accompanies a radio programme where a feminist activist is arguing against sex change operations with more of these regretful transitioner examples: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6923912.stm

Finally, this is an article worth reading. Examples of "regrets" at the bottom:

Byrony,

I wish I had bumped into you years ago. Your knowledge on these subjects has helped me immensely in understanding myself and my feelings (and in getting them under control).

Thanks for pointing me to this paper. It's more true that you can imagine. Just before I joined this forum early last month, my desires to express as female (and possibly even transition) had dramatically increased and were scaring the daylights out of my wife. But, I started taking a supplement in early December called "D-Aspartic Acid" (you can read about it here: http://www.ergo-log.com/dasparticacidtestosterone.html). I was taking it to purposefully raise my testosterone levels in an attempt to speed healing of damaged disc tissue in my back.

Since D-Aspartic Acid can raise T-levels by 40%, it's no wonder I was driven farther down the TG scale then I had ever been before. I stopped taking it about the same time I started PM (since I didn't want them to compete). My gender dysphoria quickly went down to my "normal level", and then faded further as the PM took effect. I don't even feel the desire to cross dress any longer.

I'm pretty sure now that the low free-T levels in my blood are actually normal for me, and in my case healthier. I've found that a pretty low dosage of PM maintains my brain rewiring (just 1500 mg/day). That's also probably due to naturally low free-T. I just have to figure out how to explain all this to my doctor!

Hi Misty,

that's nice of you, though I didn't know it myself years ago! That paper was found by a contributor who doesn't visit any more called JulieTG. There are lots of other useful papers on Anne Vitale's site, by the way, though she does tend to think that transition is the most "normal" outcome... but then again, she is part of the medical/pharma orthodoxy.

That's the trouble. I really wish I was dynamic enough to start a movement that could push this wonderful, safe, herbal alternative to the medical treadmill. The problem is, pharm companies aren't interested in researching the effects of herbal medicines - there isn't any money in it - and governments like to hive off most of the research to the pharm companies, it seems. What grant monies they have nowadays are used to finance politicised science, like "Climate Change" or "how to implement a globalised socialist system for massive transfers of capital from the West to the third world, whilst lining the pockets of all the politicians involved". (Oops - my cynicism is showing!)
