Transgender Film Recommendations

#31

Ok, so is it appropriate here to mention pieces that are comic in nature, or that deal with crossdressing males? If so, should we mention "Some Like It Hot"? Or "La Cage aux Folles"?

My DW and I watched Trans: The Movie together tonight. It's a documentary about several transgenders in various life situations and their experiences dealing with the fallout of being born with a mismatch between their sex and gender. There's plenty of heartbreak depicted in the movie, but also the joyous side of successful transition. It's worth a look. I watched it on Amazon's Instant Video service. Orlando (1992)
Beautiful Daughters (2006)
Normal (2003)
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)
Just Like a Woman (1992)

I'm not recommending any of these, because other than "Normal", I haven't watched them. I'll give my review of Orlando and Beautiful Daughters later.

"Normal" won an Emmy and some Golden Globe awards.

Well, if you're going to go that way, you could include "Silence Of The Lambs" and, "Caligula", because there's a scene where he dresses like a woman.

BTW, the 1992 film Just Like a Woman is available full length on Youtube at this time. The British comedy presents a sympathetic and respectful view of crossdressing for the time. There are funny, tender, as well as disturbing scenes in the film. I liked it despite its being rather out of date.

to me those movies, including the crying game, just paint a bad light for what it is to be a transsexual/transgendered person. in my humble opinion it makes us all look like nymphomaniac sexual deviatesSad . i am no prude by any means, however, such propagada further enhances the 'shemale' ( i detest that word btw) or non-op porn and perceived 'exotic/riske'' nuance of being with us girls. i do not wish to be objectified as a sexual object, much like most women of the genetic persuasion, dont want to be seen as a possesion and/or being cheapened by freely available porn..

dont get me wrong, i enjoy being intimate with a person i care about, but the eyes tell the truth whether it is strictly sexual or something more special and worthwhile...reciprocation of emotions/feelings .....a bond which will outlast sexual intmacy...

a hard find indeed.....

I know what you mean! I've heard others mention the same thing, especially about "Lambs"!! I hate the shemale title, too. Well, what I hate worse is when they call them chicks with dicks, like they were born girls, they just had dicks instead of vaginas. Wellllll.....that's a GUY!!!! What they do is grow their tits and do what they can to look like girls, so, they SHOULD be called guys with tits!! Lol. But, NOOOOO, a guy having sex with another guy with tits is just liked being gay!!!!! However, a guy having sex with a girl with a dick is perfectly okay!!!!!! No matter HOW gay it still is!!!! (Not that I have ANYTHING against people being gay!!) It's just this bullshit male machismo that says it's okay to fuck a "girl" with a dick, but not a guy with tits!! IT'S THE EXCACT SAME THING!!!! You can call them pancakes or you can call them flapjacks, but they're STILL the exact same thing!!!!
As for the scene in Caligula, it's been a few years since I've seen it, but I recall a scene where he dresses like a girl in order to sneak into a place where women run around half naked all the time, or something liked that.

there is a big difference in my opinion between transvestites/crossdressers and transsexual/transgenderism. perhaps the former is just a gateway to the latter. however in most people who are the former that i have seen,is mostly sexually driven, whereas the latter is merely a balancing of feelings/emotions through physical means.

i suppose someone who is not in our positions can not see an actual difference/distinction between the two.

i used to frequent the transgender rooms on yahoo and often would be 'told' what to do when i was on cam. i had to end up stop using the cam due to all the lurkers and creeps that think that they could control what i did. most of these creeps had their two hands busy i am sure......makes my skin crawl to think of itSad

back to original thoughts; i dont see anything wrong for those who 'dress' up for kicks, but i feel there is a different distinction between the two. i feel ts/tg are prone to be a bit more classy. just my meager opinion, albeit shallow if so be.
