Tea Tree Oil

#1

A couple of months ago I had my hair cut and the young lady that cut my hair recommended a combination hair conditioner/body lotion.... needless to say I was skeptical, but she said if I didn't like it, bring it in next time I come and she would give me a refund. So, I bought it and have been using it. It is labeled "Tea Tree Oil Lotion and Conditioner." Doing some research over the weekend I read about tea tree oil causing gynomastia in young boys. I didn't make the connection until this morning when I grabbed the bottle to apply to my hair and I always rub my chest/legs/face with it, because it is nongreasy and smells nice! Big Grin When I set the bottle down the connection hit me... So, even tho' there is no connection of tea tree oil causing breast growth in adult males, I am wondering if there is some connection with the relatively swift (3 weeks) results I have had since starting my 1000 - 2500mg PM ramp up? Does anyone know if the Tea Tree Oil used topically facilitates E reception or something similar? I have researched some this morning, but haven't found anything.

Hello Lisa.

I don't recall anyone using tea tree oil as a part of their NBE regime. Have you tried doing a search on the programs subforum? You could always self-experiment to see what kind of long-term results you get with or without tea tree oil. So long as you smell nice, I think any NBE benefits of using tea tree oil is an extra bonus.

The Mayo Clinic site does mention tea tree oils as a possible cause of gynecomastia.

Quote:Plant oils, such as tea tree or lavender, used in shampoos, soaps or lotions have been associated with gynecomastia. This is probably due to their weak estrogenic activity.

Interesting enough, here's what the site says about the physical complications of gynecomastia. Big GrinBig Grin

Quote:Gynecomastia has few physical complications, but it can cause psychological or emotional problems caused by appearance.

I find it ironic how we have the opposite experience with breast development. Wink

LOL!

Thanks Flame. Good info. I had searched some before going to work this a.m., but all I could find was the gynecomastia affect on prepubescent boys.

Hell, I have psychological and emotional problems already... I'm hoping breasts will help!!! Tongue

Lisa,
Think in terms of recreating puberty as in breast growth, it's been mentioned before that our breasts are going through the growth stages, reference the Tanner Stages of growth. Sometimes we loose site of how the stages are progressed, maybe because it sounds creepy, idk. But tee tree oil does cause Gynecomastia in young boys as you researched, in terms of breast growth!

here is a link to the published article regarding that study (look under the subtitle Methods: Mamalian cell culture for the bit about dimethylsulfoxide)

and a quick google search of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) will reveal it's estrogenic effects

it's also been mentioned to stay away from PABA while using tee tree and lavender oil.
