Will there be a difference?

#1

Hello All!
I have gotten in contact with a local therapist to get started on HRT here in a month or so maybe a little longer.what i want to ask is will there be a difference from the real deal and PM in comparison to potency? in other words, will it be stronger than PM? im still gonna think about it before i make the final choice about it. I am excited thoughBig Grin

Its a NBE forum, most of us haven't tried HRT. I don't think it's personal.

Thats true. pretty much i was asking if the real stuff is stronger than PM.I think it is,but just wanted a second opinion. I just do not see herbs ever getting me where i desire. I want more than just breast. i want the full body feminization which herbs cannot do. I do not mean SRS.

Hi D,

you asked for an opinion, so I'll give it - it's my personal opinion so don't shoot me!

I think what you are proposing will seriously endanger your relationship with your partner. Before you do this, make very sure that she will be perfectly happy if you wind up losing the ability to penetrate her.

I say this because you said you do not want SRS. I realise that you are lucky enough to have a partner who is presumably bisexual and wants you fully feminised, so maybe she won't mind if your relationship becomes lesbian in every way - but you need to be very sure that she is prepared to lose your penis before you embark on this road.

Pharma hormone therapy is intended for the true TS who ultimately intends to transition - it is not intended for partial transition. These exist, but the therapy isn't planned for that. The estrogen doses you will take if you keep testicular function will need to be so strong that you will risk blood clots. The usual deal is either a powerful anti-androgen (Spironolactone) or ultimately, orchiectomy. Spironolactone can adversely affect your heart function.

I'm curious about the phrase "full body feminization which herbs cannot do". What does this mean? PM is a relatively safe estrogen mimic. You won't get any quicker breast growth with Premarin unless you turn off your testicles, chemically or with a knife. Even then a real girl takes 3 years at least - you will still need to wait that long. Estrogen won't grow your hip bones or reduce your shoulder width - but it will lay down fat on your hips and butt - but so does PM - it has on me!

Impatience could mean death, but almost certainly means misery.

Are you intending to get these powerful medicines without seeing a gender counsellor, doctors, blood work and close monitoring? If so, you might want to while away a few hours playing Russian Roulette.

If you do go the gender counsellor route and tell them that you want to keep penis function, they are unlikely to help you (they have a tick-box mentality - TS = SRS), so bear that in mind.

If you want to disregard everything I've said up to now, at least read this. So you want to be a T Girl
It's a few years old now, and doesn't mention herbs, it was also before a lot of TG-friendly laws were passed, but it was written by someone who walked the walk, and the info on drugs and transition will still be relevant.

I had a look at it recently, and it really rammed home to me that my firm decision never to contemplate transition was a good one.

My strong advice is to give yourself a year on PM. I'm coming up to 9 months, and, although I no longer want to grow breasts, I have a good couple of handfuls ( I take it for mental therapy).

I have to wear compression vests under T-shirts now, and they are starting to poke through my work shirts... not enough to "out" me, but I think when my year comes up next September, I'll be wearing compression vests to work. As I alluded to earlier, I've got substantial deposits of fat around my "male" waist (hips) and on my backside - and a quite recognisable female waist just below my ribs.

Please, give yourself time and don't do anything rash. Please read the website before you commit yourself. I think you have a great deal to research.

I agree with Byrony.

Unless you Intend to FULLY Transition (including SRS) Avoid HRT!...

None of this is something to be rushed, or taken lightly.

Personally I have a Lot to loose if ANY of my relatives were to find out just who this is posting this (Long story for another time/place [preferably via private message convo]), I do however have a damned good excuse for if I get outed for having breasts and have, and I have fully researched concealment methods to prevent that.

Give yourself time, GG breast development is normally measured in years, HRT is not likely to speed that up.

Listen to Byrony.

Like others have stated, if you want to keep male function, then HRT may not be for you.Try writing down your diet and searching Isabelle's thread for what can stay and what needs to go lol...

I take it your break didn't help? After a 2 day break I've been getting some mild growing pains again from 1000mgs/day. Then again I also cut out the SP finally without breaking out.

Maybe its b/c I'm nearing the 6 month mark that I don't need it as much idk.

On a side note, Maca may be a good addition for you if you want to round out your hips and ass.

I agree that you should make sure your SO is fully on board with full feminization. However, the risks Bryony talks about with regard to blood clots are, in my opinion, VERY over stated and derive mainly from research (google the Women's Health Initiative, a longitudinal study done in the US) in which subjects took Premarin and some form of synthetic progesterone, typically depo provera. Both of these are nasty drugs and have no place on the market, let alone as part of HRT for transitioning transexual women. There are much safer, and more effective bioidentical hormones readily available on the market today with significantly less deleterious side effects. Unfortunately many physicians are still of the opinion that all pharmaceutical estrogens are the same--they are NOT. Some are MUCH more dangerous than others. As this is an NBE site I won't go into details here, but the info is readily available on the web.

Also, you should be aware that there is a growing movement among therapists treating transgendered individuals (at least in the US though it is by no means wide spread as yet) of administering low dose estrogen to help with the various psychological sequelae of GID for those who do NOT wish to fully transition. There are several individuals that have or are getting this kind of therapy who post regularly on the forums at www.susans.org, mainly in the Androgyne section. You can get lots of useful info on the effects of HRT on susans as well, as some of the women there are interested in keeping male sexual function during transition, at least until they have SRS if that is their choice. There is also a small minority of women there that are opting to remain non-operative. From what I have read there, whether or not you loose all male sexual function on HRT is highly variable, but more likely than not.

Again, I agree with Bryony that if you have a SO, you should both know those risks/benefits and be prepared for how they will affect your particular relationship.

Thanks Chrishoney,

I agree that my information is likely dated - and I do err on the side of caution.

I think you will agree (did agree?) that the risks I referred to are still very real without a wide depth of knowledge and advice, despite the improvements amongst the more knowledgable medical practitioners.

Those changes in attitude are surprisingly welcome - I just hope they are widespread.

I agree with all that has been said above.
Diva - I read this not so bright idea of yours as your impatience yet again. Please just get it into your head once and for all that THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES.
