Ouch, that hits some sensitive spots. ...It looks like it's going to make me cry ...a lot! Let's dedicated this thread to the series and have a good old fashioned heart-to-heart talk about it with each new episode. I'd really like that.

Thanks for calling my attention to it Sammie. I probably would have missed it if you hadn't

I've watched the pilot, too. Very good. I'll definitely watch the whole 10 installments which can be streamed at Amazon.com starting Friday 9/26 as Sammie mentioned.

The writer/producer/director of the series, Jill Soloway, is the daughter of a member of our Chi Chapter TG support group here in Chicago who I've had the pleasure to talk to. Carrie, Jill's dad, is transgender, and was the inspiration for Jill's work. Carrie was quick to point out that the overall family dynamic in the series is not biographical, though...lol.

DW and I watched the first 5 episodes and liked it. It treats transgenderism with much sensitivity and respect. I love the line when Maura's eldest daughter asks "Are you saying, like, you're going to start dressing up like a lady all the time?" Her father replies:

"All my life I've been dressing up as a man. This is me."

I saw a big write-up about it in the paper a few days ago and meant to read it but was either way too tired or just didn't have the time. I had no idea what it was about until a few minutes ago, but SOMETHING I spotted (a word in the subtitle, I think) made me want to at least see what the article was about.
It's hard to hear well from the very tiny speakers on this computer (they're like pocket transistor radio speakers from the `60's!!), so I'm not 100% sure what the show is about, but there didn't seem to be that much about the dad being TS in the trailer. I'll check it again later with headphones to see if I can suss out any more from it.
