How can anyone NOT believe

#11

Okay, now REMEMBER, TWICE now, I've said, "okay, let's stop this debate now", but thou continuest still, so...

Well, that's my point! YOU can say as much about your religion as you want and very few, if any, will complain, but as soon as I (or someone like me) voice(s) MY/OUR opinion, I'm/we're the bad guy(s)!
And, if we're given free will, what's the point of having a god? It's not going to help any of us at all anyway, is it? Might as well pray to a carton of milk because you'll get the exact same results. Mom's a pretty devout catholic girl. When dad was dying of cancer 6 years ago (and had I KNOWN there were nearly 400 cures for it back then., I would've done something to help him!!), mom prayed and prayed to god to help him!! The cancer still killed him!! A few years later, although as healthy as a horse, she had a stroke!! God STILL hasn't healed her!! My brother was a heavy bible thumper during the past few years of his life but never had a kind word for ANYONE and did everything he could to make mom's life a living hell. Then he jumped off a bridge a few days before last Christmas!! Obviously, god was too busy playing golf that day to help save my brothers ass and, in the process, make life a bit easier for mom.

A friend of mine believes he has a little man living inside his nose! Would you humour him and even try to converse with the little man that ONLY HE can see or hear, or would you seriously think about having him locked up in a room with soft wallpaper? If so, why? You talk to an invisible man that lives in the sky and nobody locks you up.

This guy I work with, Chris, is a holy roller, but he LOVES rap, sex, porno, getting drunk, and taking drugs and if he gets even the slightest bit pissed off, he'll punch a hole in a wall, or beat up machinery and he FIRMLY BELIEVES (because the BIBLE tells him so!!) that it's HIS god given RIGHT to kill gays, transsexuals and the like!! Then there's me, I know the bible and religion are a complete farce (and people like him prove it!!), but I'm one of the sweetest, kindest people you'll EVER meet and I have a VERY open and extremely loving heart and I not only try to do things for other people, I also try to help animals, wild or tame, if they'll let me!! I'm kinda like Ellie Mae Clampett without the tits (so far). I don't drink, I don't do ANY drugs, I don't lie, and I try to think things through rationally instead of just beating the shit out whatever happens to be around me. I also strongly believe in treating my fellow human beings, REGARDLESS of their sexual bent, as I would have them treat me. Now, if it came down to you being in serious trouble and needing help and you had me or Chris to choose from, who would you choose? Me, the kind and loving atheist? Or some guy that'd just as soon kill you for "being gay" (in his eyes), as look at you, even though he STRONGLY believes in god?

Okay, let's pretend there IS a god. Oh! I forgot, you're already doing that. So, if it was up to god to choose who, of Chris & I, should get into heaven, who do you think he'd be most likely to pick?

One more quick question: Here I am putting down your religion and I'll bet those of you that believe in that junk are ready to string me up, yet, here YOIU are putting me down for MY beliefs and I'd still accept you as a friend!! NOW which of us is more Jesus-like?

Trust me, I COULD go on for QUITE some time, but I'd rather not. Can we stop now?
Take care, all!! I wish you ALL the best!!!! Peace!! And, psychic hugs and kisses!!

Addendum: I KNOW MY heart's in the right place, and I didn't need ANY bible or religion to make me that way! You, too, can get there on your own, if you want to!

Now look who's the hypocrite.

Hypocrites don't have to be faux religious nut jobs to still be hypocritical nut jobs.

In my experience religion and no book of scripture will ever make a hypocritical bastard into a decent person. Not by themselves. A real close relationship with God does. There is a difference though... The latter is called "spirituality". And doesn't always actually require actually knowing you're even communing with any particular god or any god at all. Slamming them and calling everyone who thinks there's a spiritual reality out there at all delusional is NOT having a heart at all let alone having it in the right place.

Whether there is a spiritual reality or not, we both know our own opinions on this, it doesn't matter. Saying things like:

Quote:it'd come pretty easily to someone who VEHEMENTLY believes in something that DOESN'T exist

Is being a damned bastard towards ALL people who DO believe there's a spiritual reality. Not just a mere bitch towards the hypocrites among them.

And I'm not putting you down for not believing in spiritual matters. I'm calling you out on being a closed-minded bastard about it. I'd be calling someone else out for being a closed-minded bastard about atheism but you'll notice that doesn't actually happen if you were actually honest about it. I HAVE called people out for being a closed-minded bastard about OTHER belief systems. It's happened before. I've called people on it before. And EVERY TIME I SEE IT I WILL CALL IT WHAT IT IS.

And you'll notice and everyone will notice that not ONCE have I said that there can't NOT be a god. I've been quite open to the possibilities of basically anything. Yet even as you're saying one thing with a handful of your words you're spending the entire rest of them saying that there definitely CAN'T be a god.

All I've been saying this entire time is that playing with absolutes in theology when talking to and about others is NOT acceptable. You can say whatever you like about your beliefs about yourself. But calling anyone who disagrees a delusional fool is BEING a delusional fool. Therefore when you disagree it's best to just NOT TALK ABOUT IT. AT ALL. That's what (mostly) EVERYONE'S been doing EXCEPT you (and tibetan, but she's a whole nother kind of special lol).

People, please stop? I wasn't trying to spark a debate here. I was relating myself, and my previous situations, to Doodle. Nothing more.

This is a support thread for one of our own who's having difficulties in life, not to fight about whether or not religions are right, call people out and insult them. Let's keep it that way, yeah? Take it to personal messaging if you're that bent on proving your side.

Isn't this thread supposed to be about Doodlebug and worrying about his relatives. Trying to come to terms with what he wants and the struggle against societies norms?

C'mon people! Can we get this to stop or at least move it to a thread so people who don't want to stumble into this steaming carcas can avoid it?

I know @abi! Ill keep talking. I also agree with your post thanks for calling it!
I just find that atheists have can have the kindest hearts but the biggest egos. I can also say I find so many so-called Christians are major hypocrites. So this debate will never truly be bridged.

In death at least, the atheist WILL know that this life isn't it at the very least. If God still doesn't exist to them, that is their choosing and so be it, it is self-fulfilled. Its just a hell of a lonely road and no real spiritual evolvement. Heck, I can see how the one who made us all would truly leave them alone.

Okay, I'm looking, WHO'S the hypocrite? Certainly not me. I profess no religion or bible thumping. I just know, as Anyone capable of simple thought should, that you should treat everyone as an equal and not hurt others just because they don't fit into YOUR idea of the norm! Where's the hypocrisy in that?? Besides, it's YOUR sort that are the GRANDEST of hypocrites because you cherry pick what bible rules to pay attention to! If you'd heed EVERY rule there is in the bible, you'd all have been dead and burning in hell DECADES ago. How many homosexuals have you killed today? How many disobedient children have you stoned to death? How many sacrificial lambs have you slain in the past YEAR? When's the last time you refused to do absolutely anything on the sabbath? How many thieves hands or liars tongues have you amputated? Then, how many times have you insulted me just because I was calmly trying to make a simple point of fact? Doesn't your bible say you should love thy fellow man as thyself? When does THAT start? I've expressed no hatred of ANY of you, yet I'M the one being punished for it!! Tell THAT to Jesus as you nail me to your cross!! And, for people that don't spew on about their religion, you're sure doing a piss poor job of it!! Oooohhh, we're have a BIG sale on hypocrisy, now!!!!
Now, just STOP it already and get back to the bloody point of the thread!!

Well, gotta put in my two cents worth. Does God exist or not or is the atheist right or wrong? One of these days we will all know the answer to that. Let's take a look at what each, the Christian and the atheist, have to look forward to. First, lets assume the atheist is right, there is no God. When we die, that's it. We shut off like a computer and that is the end of us. No afterlife at all. We will never know that there is no God. Now, lets assume the atheist is wrong, there is a God. When we die, we will stand before Him and account for our life. Pity the poor atheist that has denied God and worked against Him all his life. According to the Bible, the atheist will be condemned. The Christian, however, will be rewarded with everlasting life in Heaven. Now, which future would you want to have????????

This isn't quite correct either... the only one's actually condemned by the Bible when truly translated correctly, or in the original languages, are those who deny God having known God... The atheist having never known God is exempt as far as this life is concerned. He DOES get another chance, though. We all do, actually... Even murderers. The only people who don't are those who deny God knowing God. And as far as the Bible is concerned so far only Cain has been thus condemned.

There are thousands of gods and religions in which you do not believe. Good luck in having the correct one and being rewarded for it. I will live a fulfilling life without superstition rather than taking a massive shot in the dark in hope of very slim chances of salvation.

It seems like to me that growing breasts or transitioning between sexes is at odds with the Christian belief system. God created the sexes separately. He clearly stated that one would be subservient to the other following the fall of Man as a result of the original sin. How do you who belief rationalize going against His natural order? (Just curious. Not going to argue with you about it or tell you you're wrong... You have probably already guessed my thoughts on Christian worldview. Smile)
