CM's journey

#91

Caylee,

Is it possible to find out which professionals they except letters from? And then go to those professionals to have the letters written? I know it's more money and time wasted,. Not sure if that's an option.

The governor in the state I live in has basically shut down transitioning for all ages.  You reach out to the psychiatrist they will not contact you back.  The only mental health you can get is like a PA and they want actual Dr of psychiatry. Reached out to 14 different providers only two got back and those two don’t meet the guidelines as I understand them.  So now I will try to take what ever letters I can get go to Thailand try to get cleared with Thi Psychiatrist.  Now I have to try to get clearance from cardiology and get cleared by cardiology in Thailand also.  Bottom line can’t get appointments.  What they want is you to buy your way to the top Dr.

Caylee

In my opinion the Drs. have it tied up.  They want you to have to start transitioning in their program at the bottom and take years and thousands of dollars to get to surgery then pay some outlandish amount for surgery.  They don’t want to help you if you’re trying to go outside of the US for bottom surgery.  I totally understand the reasoning if you’re young. But at my age I would die of old age before I could get to surgery.

Hey not your fault.  But thanks anyway.

Lara has been warning all us trans.

It puts me in her corner.

I’m going to pick my self up dust my pantyhose off and go back and fighting for what I want.

@caylee,

You do what you have to do, and never settle for anything less. There's a reason why trans individuals are the most resourceful individuals you'll ever meet. Good luck.

Weekend camping trip went well. Thursday night after work we packed up and went to Flagstaff AZ to spend the night. Woke up early Friday morning and drove to page az, and did a kayaking and hiking tour of lake Powell and lower antelope canyon. Then we got food and headed to lone rock area of lake Powell and set up camp for the night. Saturday morning we were able to sleep in a bit longer than Friday. Sat afternoon we had the official tour of lower antelope canyon. Once that was done we headed back to lone rock and set up camp again this time we were able to drive and set up our roof camp off our jeep right at the waters edge on the beach. We enjoyed the rest of our time just relaxing at the beach. Sunday we woke up and relaxed slowly breaking down camp. Hit the road around 1230-1pm finally got back home around 630pm and unloaded the car, cleaned up and got ready for work as much as we could.

Busy busy weekend, but def worth it. Antelope canyon is so beautiful. If you ever get the chance to go I def recommend it.

Sounds like a very refreshing trip, CM!
Arizona is such a beautiful state. We finally got around to AZ and NM last year and loved the arid climate. We're from Washington where we shovel the moss.
Glad you're doing better,
Huck

We have so many beautiful places here in Arizona and so much to do. Living in Northeast Arizona has been incredible. Golfing year round is pretty nice too.

My appointment with endocrinology is just over a week away. I was wondering if there were any specific questions I should ask to help me determine how experienced the DR is with gender affirming hormone therapy vs just chasing numbers from blood work?

Obviously ask any and all questions I have and leave no stone unturned. I just want to see if there was anything I didn't think of that would either help me get a warm and fuzzy or a turn and run for the hills from this Dr and seek out another one who has experience.
