disappearing male

This appointment is a medical doctor and I hope she has her sympathetic hat on Blush

I will disclose the outcome later on ........hold that page Big Grin

Harping back on the weight thread, I always remember my Granddad asking
" what's the difference between a hungry boy and a glutton "?

Answer, one eats for eating sake and the other eats for the sake of eating !

I have always loved my food and has always been a battle to keep my weight down. I have taught myself to eat slower and it's amazing how the satisfaction message gets to the brain a little sooner .lol

I tried on a new dress tonight and it made me extremely happy that the fit looked good with a good feminine look.

Oh well it's time for bed.

Love to you all and God Bless

Hugs

All this talk of losing weight, so I guess I'll chime in that I'm down from 230+ to hovering around 200 since the beginning of the year. I've also started growing my hair out (wife keeps telling me to get it cut), but with this and the weight loss most people say I look so much younger! Big Grin I'm also certain some of this wieght loss is muscle mass, but alot has been from around the midsection, as all of my shorts and pants fall right off if I don't wear a belt.

Like you Kari not only have I given up many of the foods I enjoyed but I've also given up the daily alcohol as well. I've actually had two 3 weeks periods in the last few months where I didn't have one drink! That's gotta be a record I've not had since my Navy underway days!

Scotti, that level of weight loss is perfect if you want it to stay off. Large and sudden weight loss is not only bad for health in the long term but rarely lasts. It is better to lose just a few ounces per week over a long period than 5 or 6 pounds a week !

So in short ' I take my hat off to you' and your goals will be achieved and remain that way. With regard to your hair, well, you must be on the young side Wink
I have very limited hair and what I do have is grey Blush this situation makes me even happier to wear a wig whenever I can.
Don't give in to SO pressure to have it cut, I really envy you.

Hey Scotti,

Congrats on... everything! Personally, my single minded focus on breast enlargement has taken a back seat to other things that I think will be more effective towards feminizing my appearance. A slender mid-section is way more noticeable and could be construed as feminine but it's at least much better for your health than carrying a spare tire. The hair? well, that's obviously much more common among females. I LOVE my hair more and more with every additional inch! It's about an inch over my ears now and I have the proud distinction of being the longest haired guy my hairdresser sees. Although in my neck of the woods, long haired guys are as rare as Amish electricians and mine isn't even all that long yet. I love it when the wind blows it into my eyes and face and I love flipping it out from under my collar. If I tuck it behind my ears, it really looks feminine! I've been getting lots of compliments on my appearance in general although I think it has more to do with the 20 pounds that I'm missing, hopefully soon joined by another 15-20. I'm not worried about gaining the weight back because this is a lifestyle change not a goal oriented weight loss program. I can't go back to the old diet because it was responsible for several health problems I was having. My body just wont tolerate all the carbohydrates (grains, cereals, starches and sweeteners) I used to eat. The consequences are not worth the pleasure of consuming them anymore.

As for the alcohol, "they" say it's not especially good for you so going without is a good thing I guess. I might have little wine half a dozen times per year and I could easily pass it by even then so what do I know. ...A vanilla Coke with grenadine??? Now that's a temptation!!! YUMMY...

Kari,
I assume your health issue is diabetes (Type II) or pre-diabetes, something that I have been fighting for 15 years. I gave up high glycemic foods altogether. Well, except at Thanksgiving and an occasional ice cream sundae. After awhile you get used to avoiding most breads, cereals, corn, rice, even pasta. Forget pastries, candy and many fruits with high sugar content (oranges). I will NOT give up my daily glass of Burgundy wine though. I'd rather die. Other than that, I've avoided becoming diabetic as a result of that discipline, and have kept my weight in check pretty well, too. My hat is off to you for making the commitment to protecting your health.

I sure wish I could grow my hair out as you are. Unfortunately, I would look a lot like Ben Franklin in the end...LOL.

Clara,
Thankfully, it's not diabetes but my diet is very similar to what would be recommended (I think - I wont get into what I think of the American Diabetes Association!) for someone who is pre diabetic. Low glycemic index foods, limited carbs etc. What I am is gluten sensitive - I'm sure you'd rather not know what gluten does to my GI tract. What I learned about wheat in particular and consequently all the carbohydrates is what they do to blood glucose, insulin response and ultimately your pancreas. Avoiding or at least limiting carbohydrates becomes an obvious conclusion. I can't remember a time in my life when my GI tract has worked so well for so long. And the axillary benefit is that my excess weight is disappearing getting me closer and closer to my appropriate body mass index (a feat I previously thought impossible). Then came the high fructose corn syrup. We had been making a modest effort to avoid it but now, I'm pretty relentless about not buying food that contains that crap. Needless to say, our selection of foods is frightfully small at the moment and I'm trying all kinds of foods again looking for replacements for all the things I'll no longer eat. It's been hard for this mid-west, meat-and-potatoes kid!

Remember the thread about "will PM shorten your life span?" HYPOTHETICALLY assuming it does, I wonder if what I'm doing diet wise will counteract the "negative" impact of PM.

Thanks Heather! The weight loss can mainly be attributed to diet change. While not 100% vegan, I'm juicing and eating/drinking my veggies and fruit raw. Very little bread and processed foods, some meat here and there. All I know is that it's working. As for the hair and age, yeah, I guess if 42 is young! Wink

Thanks Kari, and I agree, a slender midsection with a few curves and hair is definitely more feminine. I'm hoping my hair keeps filling in, as I have noed some of my MPB reversing! Currently my hair is the longest it's been in nearly 20 years! And like you, my diet has been a lifestyle change too, so once it's off as long as I maintain the weight shouldn't come back.

As for HFCS, that's been virtually banned in our household for 10+ years!!!
