You're not missing much. Several years ago, Ablow had what I thought was a syndicated daytime TV talk show similar to all of the others though less trashy. It aired on my local Fox affiliate, but then so did Springer the year before. Now that he is a frequent contributor to Faux News, I suspect his show was probably aired exclusively on Fox stations. Like nearly everyone else on Faux News, he takes the position his corporate overlords wish to present. They have a message that appeals to people on the lowest level of instinct, and they present it in such a way that emotion disconnects higher brain functions like reason and logic. I am assaulted by it for 10 hours a day, 4 days a week at work. We have a TV tuned to a news station 24/7 because there might be some sort of disaster that could affect our customers, etc. Other of my employer's sites insist on CNN (I've seen emails reminding people to leave their local TV tuned to CNN). I'm guessing if corporate were contacted, they would mandate CNN. The people where I work would have a fit if the channel were changed. I hate it.
While I tend to agree with Ablow regarding many of his observations on narcissism, as has been pointed out, he offers no solutions. I work with a bunch of such people, and they are so confident in their abilities, oblivious of how little they know, and when they make big mistakes, they laugh them off, quickly forget them, and go on to make the same or similar mistakes repeatedly. There is a huge disconnect from reality these days.
